Center Policies

Tot Spot provides care for children ages six weeks to pre-kindergarten. Tot Spot does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, gender, national or ethnic origin in enrollment or employment.

On bad weather days, Tot Spot's decision to close will coincide with the decision made by the Orange County Public School system. Tuition will remain the same.

We have an open door policy. Please feel free as a volunteer or an observer to visit your child's classroom. There are certain times when visitors are a distraction to the classroom (such as breakfast time, nap time, and release time) and will be asked not to enter the classroom.

Breakfast and lunch are brought from home. Tot Spot staff serves breakfast no later than 8:15am daily. At 8:30am, classroom activities begin and breakfast will no longer be served. Children will not be able to enter the classroom with food. A healthy snack is given at approximately 9:30am. Tot Spot provides milk and fruit with lunch.

Late pickup policy: We require a cash late fee of $1 per minute after 6:30pm for all late pickups. Please notify us if you are going to be late so we may assure your child that you are on your way.

Children are only released to the parent or guardian who enrolled him or her. If any other person should need to pick up your child, please notify the front office staff. We require a written and signed authorization from the parent or guardian before we can release your child to other individuals. A staff member must verify the identity of the person with a valid picture identification card. If there is any doubt about the person picking up your child, the center reserves the right to not release your child.

Sick children will be removed from the classroom and comforted in a separate area. We will call you and ask that you pick up your child as soon as possible. This is necessary to prevent other children from getting sick. We reserve the right to call someone from your contact list if we are unable to reach you within a reasonable amount of time.

Medication will only be given to your child with prior arrangement by signing an authorization form.
Please note that if medication is not currently prescribed by a doctor, the center will not administer it to your child.

When discipline is needed, we use positive redirection in most instances. The parents will be notified if further discipline is required.

Suitable Clothing: Please dress your child in clothing appropriate for weather and play. We highly recommend sneakers and discourage open-backed shoes and sandals. Please remember to bring an extra set of clothes for your child's cubby.
